Comments:

Mason Perry, “Mace”, is a really good cop. Her father had been the District Attorney in Washington D.C. and her sister is the Chief of Police (four stars) of Washington D.C. Mace has wanted to be a cop since she was a little girl. It is all she has ever wanted to do. She very successfully completed the academy and went to work for the DC police. Mace rapidly advanced in her work volunteering to work undercover. Taking down drug lords and getting quick justice for murder victims made some enemies among the bad guys. In fact Mace was a bit too good a cop.

Mace was kidnapped and forced onto drugs for weeks until she did not know who she was or what she was doing. Her captors took her with them on numerous robberies during one of which Mace was captured with a smoking gun in her hand and in possession of the loot from their most recent crime.

The justice system in DC threw the book at Mace. There is nothing worse than a cop who has turned bad and Mace was the worst they had seen for a long time. Mace went to prison for two years. In prison Mace literally had to struggle for her life among the tough women in prison. The toughest was the “Queen” of the bad girls and did not like Mace at all. But luckily Mace made it to the end of her two years and her sister “the Chief” managed to extract her a day early preventing the “Queen” from her final attack on Mace. Now Mace has to face freedom and whatever that means.

A convicted felon cannot serve as a police officer. But, there are two ways Mace might be able to get back into the blue uniform. One, she could work to find out who framed her and sent her innocent body to prison. Clearing her name and proving innocence would get her back on the force. The other way was to do as an official with the FBI had done in a similar circumstance. That is, Mace could solve a big important crime, proving her value and honesty and get reinstated. The first turned out not to be an option as the current assistant DA bitterly hates Mace and has taken active measures to undermine any effort to prove she was framed. So Mace needs a big crime to solve. It is a long shot but Mace is eager to try.

When the body of a young female attorney is found stuffed in a refrigerator of a local prominent law office Mace has the opportunity. Roy, the young lawyer who discovered the body becomes a good friend and helper as Mace and he travel under the radar to find out what happened, who did it and why. It is not easy as Mace does not have the ability to call for backup and can’t carry a gun as a felon.

She and Roy work through a complex maze of convoluted clues. They begin to put the pieces together and the closer they get to finding things out the more violent and dangerous their attackers become. Escaping one attempt on their lives after another the two finally end up in a big warehouse for a final exciting showdown.

I won’t give away the ending or tell who is behind the murder. Read it for yourself. You won’t be sorry as this tale is extremely exciting and will glue you to your easy chair. “True Blue” gets a 9 of 10 on the Weaver meter.

Enjoy, Sid
