Comments:

Cullen’s latest and best novel so far hit the bookstores to rave reviews. There was only one book critic who did not like “One O’clock Jump”. That reviewer was Shearman Waxx. Though Cullen’s publisher feels that even a bad review from Waxx was a great thing. Once you had made Waxx’s radar you had it made. You had arrived as an author. You are a success. The only problem is that Cullen finds all of the artists that Waxx does not like end up dead.

It doesn’t take long before there are attempts on Cullen’s life. The first ends up in he and his wife Penny and 6 year old son Milo rushing from their home having it explode violently into the sky moments after their exit. Cullen and his family are on the run. Cullen is contacted by another author who warns him about Waxx and tells his story of his wife and two children being brutally tortured and murdered by Waxx. This guy warns Cullen not to use a credit card or telephone or a car that can be traced because Waxx will find him and kill all of the ones he loves and then kill him.

Penny, Milo and Cullen take off. They obtain some guns and lots of ammunition from Penny’s parents and then proceed to try to visit the town where other of Waxx’s less favorite authors has been killed. The artist whose hands, vocal cords and eyes were removed by Waxx and his henchmen tells his horrible story giving a little more information to Cullen about Waxx but hardly enough to be able to gather the evidence needed to take to the authorities. When they visit to another victim’s home and discover the sheriff who was fired for trying to investigate the murder they don’t have time to find out much before two strange men arrive and proceed to kill the sheriff then try to kill them. Cullen and Penny barely manage to kill the two and escape but are trapped in the country with roadblocks all around. The local police are aiding Waxx and his men.

But Penny and Cullen manage to get the drop on Waxx and take of with him chained in the back of his own Hummer. They proceed to Waxx’s home where they meet up with Waxx’s mother and retarded big brother. The final confrontation is violent and exciting and I am not going to spoil the book for you. Suffice to say you won’t be disappointed.

I give “Relentless” an 8 of 10 on the Weaver meter.

Enjoy, Sid
